Village, Liverpool, L12 7JG
Tickets £20.00 - Only 200 tickets (The hottest and yet coolest ticket in town)This years theme is a tribute to Litherland Town Hall. A venue who is acclaimed for the beginning of Beatlemania. True or not it was a turning point in The Beatles career. This night you will see artists who played at this venue alongside The Beatles and if this wasn't enough we have special guests as well. Why we chose who we've chosen:-
Gizz Butt - Lead guitarist for The Prodigy and responsible for the lead guitar work on bands biggest hit "Fire Starter." Gizz jumped on stage for an impromptu session in December. It seemed only right to invite him back to do the real thing.
Chris Sharrock - A prolific drummer currently playing for Beady Eye, but has played for Oasis, Dave Stewart, World Party, Icicle Works, Lightening Seeds and the list goes on. Great to have Chris taking my place next to Pete for some of the show.
Chas Newby - Played on bass guitar for The Beatles at Litherland Town Hall on Tuesday the 27th of December. Stuart Sutcliffe had chosen to stay in Germany with his girlfriend Astrid until early January and Paul McCartney was not playing bass guitar so, Pete asked Chas Newby from The Blackjacks would he cover The Beatles shows until Stu returned. Chas said he would and did. His memory - I already knew The Beatles were a force. We had played at the Casbah on the 17th of December and taken the roof off the place, but I wasn't expecting the reaction we had at Litherland Town Hall. The other groups on the bill had the dance floor full, people dancing, having a good time, but when The Beatles started you could see the astonishment on peoples faces. The floor ground to a halt and people came running to the stage. It was fantastic, girls screaming, lads cheering. I knew right then the group had something very special.
Faron - Played on the bill with The Beatles on numerous occasions. His memory of Litherland Town Hall was watching his fans running past him to get a better view of The Beatles. He couldn't believe the impact The Beatles were having. They took the place apart.
Karl Terry - Played alongside The Beatles on numerous occasions. His memory of Litherland Town Hall was fronting The Beatmakers a group made up of The Beatles and Gerry and the Pacemakers. Karl took the lead vocals that night. The audience went wild.
The Tempest Tornadoes - Played alongside The Beatles on numerous occasions. Wally Shepard's Litherland Town Hall memory is The Beatles kept passing a scarf to whom ever was taking the lead vocals. At the time they just thought it was funny. He now realises it was a great way to keep the audience engaged and a deliberate ploy of The Beatles to separate themselves from the other groups. It worked.
The Deltones - The Deltones played Litherland Town Hall on Tuesday the 27th of December 1960. Their memory of the night is not knowing who The Beatles were. Someone said they were from Germany. When The Beatles played they were a force. They were doing Rock 'n' Roll, but not the way the other groups did it. Other groups copied the record exactly, The Beatles were doing their own thing, two lead guitar solos, doubling up choruses, swapping the lead vocal amongst themselves. The town hall crowd couldn't get enough.
