Gerry & The Pacemakers

Complete History of Gerry and the boys coming in 2011

Gerry and the pacemakers

Is This The Earliest Photo Of Gerry & The Pacemakers?

The picture was I believe taken at the Wyvern (Later Blue Angel) May 10th 1960 and I think it was during the auditions for the Larry Parnes tour which the Beatles played on with Johnny Gentle. Also who was the guitarist on the right? If anyone can provide further info, that would be great.

Update:  Glen Mitchell has kindly identified the guy on the right as Arthur McManon.

The above photograph was taken at the Wyvern Social Club 108 Seel street on May the 10th 1960, Gerrys band members at that time were his brother Fred Marsden on Drums, Les Chadwick original Lead Guitarist before moving to bass, Gerry Marsden Rhythm/lead Guitar and Arthur McManon Piano later replaced by Les Maguire in 1961, so my guess looking at the phot is that it is Les Chadwick.

   Hello Dave,

I was at the audition that day with Cliff Roberts and the Rockers, If you look at the photo you can see my left foot behind Cliff.

The guy with Gerry, his name was Arthur I remember him at Blair Hall etc. He was replaced by Les McGuire from Wallasey on piano, Arthur normally played the piano but there wasn't one available, you will also notice that Les Chadwick is playing bass on a six string guitar thats what he did in the early days.

It was the day The Beatles met Billy Fury

Regards

Allan
