Update From Gary Popper - Producer "Getback "
Re: The Recent Band Reunion Photo, The “Get Back” film Documentary and The 2011 Concert
Hello again everyone,
Thanks to everyone for appearing at the St Georges’ band photo event. I also want to thank you for your interest in
the “Get Back” documentary.
So much interest was shown on the day, it proved impossible to spend more time with each of you. But, as promised,
I’m now contacting everyone who supplied their details with news of TWO main events being staged in 2011.
- The “Get Back” Documentary – Your story, your history.
Merseyside Beats! The Live & Loud Concert. (Working Title)
The GET BACK Documentary:
Almost everyone now realises the time has come and the mood is right to tell the bigger story about Liverpool’s
incredible music scene over six decades – from the 1950’s to 2010. Due to the passing of time (and many old
friends), another documentary on this scale will not be repeated.
But it’s not someone else’s story. It’s yours. You helped make it happen. You might have been too busy enjoying it
all to realise you were making history, but you did. Now it’s time to step out from behind the shadow cast by the
Beatles legacy and tell it like it really was. “Get Back” aims to do that, by telling the untold eyewitness stories
of the working class heroes who helped Liverpool to rock the world, then and now.
We’ve already covered many well-known names and faces from the 50’s, 60’s, 70’s and 80’s and many venues. Lots more
to do in early 2011. By the time filming finishes, the contributors will run to hundreds.
To complete the picture we need you, too. Only you can tell your story - the good, the bad, the highs and lows,
hits and misses!
Remember also that “Get Back” is a three-hour documentary - not a multi-million dollar film. All
contributors appear willingly. Everyone’s a star but no-one’s bigger than anyone else. So, if you want to leave a
lasting legacy for your grandchildren (and a few million people around the world), please join the queue. Step
forward.
If you have a unique story to tell (no matter how big or small) and want to participate either in a filmed
interview or performance, please reply to me personally to make further arrangements. I sincerely hope you’ll join
us.
Please Note: To reduce management time and cost, detailed information and scheduling is only issued to those
who confirm they wish to take part.
MERSEYSIDE BEATS! The Live & Loud Concert:
(Working Title)
A themed multi media and music event being planned for May 2011 at a major showcase venue in Liverpool.
The concept:
A 3xhour celebration of Six Decades of Liverpool’s great music heritage - past and present – live and loud!
The event will feature visual images, effects, interactive narrative and original and contemporary Merseyside
artists and bands performing the music from the 1950’s to the present day.
12 to 14 Bands are envisaged, each playing a period set (exact set timing and schedules TBA).
The concert will also celebrate;
- The red carpet premier of “Get Back”
- A Mersey Beat 50th Anniversary Tribute.
- All bands booked will be paid pro rata appearance fees.
- Former Bands Members can reform or combine to perform.
Please note: Priority booking preference is given to artists and bands that contribute or
appear in the documentary (2010-2011).
Further details of this event and the co-ordinating team will be released throughout January and February 2011,
however, please feel free to contact me on the number or address below.
Meanwhile Best Wishes for Christmas and the New Year
