Humble Pie - Great Band, But Is This the Biggest Rip Off Track Ever?
The short lived Humble Pie were a fab band with Peter Frampton and Steve Marriott on guitars ,
good enough to have come from Liverpool (OK calm down, calm you cockneys, It's a joke), but this track Natural Born
Woman recorded in 1968 has got to be the biggest rip off track of the 60s. Lyrics straight from Chuck Berry's
Little Queenie and then bits of Blue Suede Shoes, riff from the Beatles Revolution. I wonder how much they paid out
to the original composers. Its still a great track however.

Jet Harris, the original bass player with The Shadows, has
died of cancer aged 71.
The guitarist, who played on number one hits including Apache, died at his
partner's home in Winchester, his agent Peter Stockton said. Sir Cliff Richard paid tribute to his former band mate, saying: "Jet was exactly
what The Shadows and I needed - a backbone holding our sound together."
Earlier this month, Jet cancelled all his appearances due to ill health. A few years back Jet made
a surprise appearance at Merseycats. He is shown here with Wally Shepard on bass.

It Was 50 Years Ago...
Fifty years ago on February 9th, 1961 - The Beatles made their debut at
The Cavern Club in Liverpool, England. The group already had a following in the dank nightclubs of
Hamburg, Germany, but they had difficulty getting a booking at the popular basement club in their
hometown. Mona Best, the mother of then-drummer Pete Best, had to
beg the club's booker Ray McFall to secure the band even a lunchtime
slot.[Rolling Stone]
