Just Can't Imagine It's Nearly 30 Years Ago

Dakota buildingHard to believe it’s been almost 30  years since that bastard Chapman shot John. Sadly he was just emerging from his quiet period and perhaps given the chance we could have seen more brilliance from the great man.

But it was not to be, but one thing is for sure, the lyrics of Imagine are just as relevant today as they were 38 years ago.

Imagine there's no countries
It isn't hard to do
Nothing to kill or die for
And no religion too
Imagine all the people
Living life in peace

I think John would be very sad to see the state of the planet today, as the wars go on and on. Perhaps its the same people who are in charge as was then and perhaps with the same motives. But, one thing is for sure; music is and will continue to be, a major peace weapon against these warmongering lunatics, who keep telling us War is necessary for peace.

Imagine no possessions
I wonder if you can
No need for greed or hunger
A brotherhood of man
Imagine all the people
Sharing all the world

I think this verse should be mailed to every thieving banker and politician on the planet. Only bankers and politicians could have come up with an idea to tax the stuff that we exhale 6lbs of everyday - Co2. Imagine if we started to really fix the planet, today instead of listening to politicians and charlatans (The name Al Gore springs to mind) who turn up to summits in private planes and chauffeured limos with their own personal agendas (Listen to Lord Monckton), Imagine, if we could convert all those food mountains in Europe into supplies for the starving millions. Imagine if we could convert back the estimated one third of western agriculture away from Bio fuels back to food production. Imagine if we could scrap the two new Aircraft Carriers and eliminate homelessness at a stroke in the UK.

More and more people are unemployed, losing their homes and struggling to make ends meet and yet the bankers with our children’s money are back on the rise, and the rich are back to getting richer, so there is no need for them to imagine sharing all the world.

You may say that I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope someday you'll join us
And the world will be as one

So what would John do, if he were still here? I think the follow up to Imagine would already be in the studio. Fergy
