Tony Bolland - Author & PercussionistThe photoshoot was the brainchild of Tony Bolland, author of Plug Inn (The Forgotten Years)volumes 1 & 2. It took two years to organise the photograph which was to emulate the original photo taken by Astrid Kircherr in 1964 at the height of the Merseybeat boom. The shoot was finally organised to take place on the 30th anniversary of John Lennon's death and as you can see many of the original musicians from the 60s turned out to support Tony and his sponsor Merseymag a new free online newspaper. Plug Inn 2There have been many great books written about Merseyside’s biggest export ‘Music’ especially the 60’s and the 80’s. Tony Bolland is the first to write a book about the ’Forgotten Years’ the 70’s and along with Bill Harry, Sam Leach, Spencer Leigh & Paul Du Noyer who continue tell the stories and keep the lamplight burning for this never ending industry. The Plug Inn Volume 2 is Tony’s sequel to his already popular and successful Plug Inn Volume 1. The book is about the music shop of the same name and its importance in the history of popular music. Told by Tony Bolland in his unique and entertaining way his story is one of anecdotes and events that shaped the musical landscape of Liverpool. Plug Inn Volume 2 is a soft cover book containing 360 pages in total.

During the photo shoot outside St Georges Hall I managed to interview some of the people who were involved in those Fab times. This first interview of four, features Ken Shalliker, Maja Dodd, Tommy Limb and Mike Byrne.
This video includes Ian Howe and Terry Fisher of the Delrenas, Dave Williams of The Jaywalkers and Tony O'Keefe of the Shakers.
Part 3 features Dave Forshaw, the man who booked the Beatles for about £17. Also featured is Dave Jamieson who runs the Merseyrats charity.
After the photo shoot we all retired to the Adelphi Hotel for a few drinks. It was there that I managed to catch up with the great Ozzie Yue of the Hideaways.
