Liverpool Beat

A musical journey from the 50s & 60s into the future

Want to add a story, news or event article?

FERGYNEEDYOULiverpool Beat is an extraordinary labour of love. It charts the unique explosion of music, art and culture in Liverpool during the golden era of the 50s through the 70s and beyond.

Most of the articles on this site are written by the people who were there when iconic bands such as The BeatlesGerry & the Pacemakers and The Searchers lit up the world. There were over 300 bands playing in Liverpool in the 60s; this site seeks to set the record straight and keep the amazing memories of many of the bands, artists and fans available for generations to come. It is with this ambition, that we welcome you to Liverpool Beat and hope you may enjoy reading the stories, but also you can be part of our project to collect more histories to fascinate and intrigue fans of the mersey beat for generations to come.

Why? Because if you don't tell your story - the chances are - no one else will and one day your story will be lost forever.

If you think you have an interesting story (or more!) to tell about your life in Liverpool which relates to the scene we'd be honoured to provide you with a platform. We're not looking for articles written about famous people, we want to hear about the people who were part of the history so we can tell a story for generations to come. We want to build up a true picture of what it was like to live through the amazing years that spanned Liverpool during the heady days of the 50s - 70s and beyond. Whether you were in a band, a roadie, a manager, a fan, worked in the entertainment industry or a groupie! If you loved the music or hated it, all have a story to tell and we want to hear it. If you are still involved with the music today publish your article about your interest, event, charity, recording. As long as its relevant, we will publish it.

Examples of Articles We'll Publish:

  • Stories, Histories and Anecdotes relating to the music of Liverpool from the 50s - Today
